Y’Vonne Murray, Claire McMahon and Dawn Rocco-Babon met with Linda Obeahs of the shelter for Abused Women & Children (Naples) and Jennifer Benton of Abuse Counseling & Treatment (Ft. Myers). At those meetings, a dire and crucial need was identified. The shelter leaders told us that while they both serve our Bonita Springs victims of domestic violence, without a physical presence in our city; there is an extreme lack of awareness of how to reach these shelters for help. There was an immediate excitement that we had made a crucial and LIFE SAVING match. Zonta could help by developing a program to distribute the 800 phone number for awareness and use. Our poster is now in printing and we will soon be ready for distribution around our city. It is our intention to distribute posters in community cites like restaurants, bars, medical offices, churches, community organizations, places where victims will be able to see them. There are tear-off tabs so individuals may take the phone number for their use.
