Amelia Earhart Education/Scholarship Luncheon

Amelia Earhart

The Annual Amelia Earhart Education/Scholarship Luncheon is April 18, 2011 from 11:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the beautiful Bonita Bay Club. This fabulous event honors the most famous member of Zonta International, our parent organization. Join us for an empowering and entertaining lunch with Susan Bulkeley Butler, author of Women Count: A Guide to Changing the World. Susan will share her vision of how through education we can create equality for women in our everyday lives, the work place and the world. As the founder of the Women’s Archives at Purdue University, Susan has also arranged for a traveling exhibit of Amelia Earhart’s personal effects and papers to be on display at our luncheon. Stephanie Schmitz, the archivist for Amelia’s papers will share some of the history behind these items.

Our special guests this year are Faith Pearson, who had Amelia as her teacher and flight instructor and Cindy Rivas, last year’s winner of our scholarship who is now attending the prestigious Washington & Lee University. Stacey Deffenbaugh, local NBC2 and ABC7 news anchor, will be our emcee for this year’s event.

Please join us at this year’s exciting luncheon. Remember proceeds will benefit our educational efforts and the Club’s scholarship fund which over the past few years has awarded significant scholarships to several talented and gifted young women.
